PlanetechUSA has recently added the WGSD-10020, a 10-port Managed Gigabit Switch to its product portfolio. The unit features a powerful L2/L4 network switching engine, advanced IPv6 / IPv4 management functions, and QoS features for maximum security. The unit is ideal for the remote access layer of a campus, an enterprise network, the aggregation layer of IP metropolitan networks, or other SMBs and FTTx network environments.
The WGSD-10020 allows ISPs and enterprises to effectively manage data traffic from VoIP, video streaming and multicast applications. With 8 10/100/1000T RJ45 Ports and 2 100/1000x SFP slots, the unit can handle a large amount of multicast stream and voice data when installed in a secure topology that links to an Enterprise backbone or a high capacity network server with 20Gbps of switching fabric. In addition, the fanless unit features a space-saving design with a compact 13-inch metal encasement.
Enhanced Switching Features Include:
- IPv4/IPv6 Layer 3 static routing
- Cisco-like command and CDP aware
- Intelligent SFP DDM(Digital Diagnostic Monitor)
- Dual firmware image
- Loop protection
Solution for IPv6 Networking
With IPv6 / IPv4 dual stack support and user-friendly management interfaces, the WGSD-10020 is ideal for service providers seeking to enter the IPv6 arena with a relatively low investment.
The WGSD-10020 is an energy-efficient device that reduces power consumption and boasts a noise-free operation with its fanless design.
Layer 3 IPv4 and IPv6 Software VLAN Routing for Secure and Flexible Management
To help customers maintain a competitive edge, the WGSD-10020 not only provides high transmission performance and excellent layer 2 technologies, but also offers IPv4/IPv6 Software VLAN routing that allows customers to cross over different VLANs and different IP addresses to achieve a highly secure network management.
Robust Layer 2 Features
The WGSD-10020 can be programmed for advanced switch management functions, such as dynamic port link aggregation, Q-in-Q VLAN, Multiple Spanning Tree Protocol (MSTP), Layer 2/4 QoS, bandwidth control and IGMP/MLD snooping. The WGSD-10020 allows the operation of a high-speed trunk that combines multiple ports. It enables network administrators to configure up to 5 ports as a trunk group (a maximum of 5 trunk groups are available) and supports connection fail-over as well.
The WGSD-10020 offers a comprehensive layer 2 to layer 4 access control list (ACL) for maximum security. It can be used to restrict network access by denying packets based on source and destination IP address, TCP/UDP port numbers or pre-defined network applications. Its protection mechanism also comprises of 802.1x port-based and MAC-based user and device authentication.
