Ultra-PoE, the Next Generation in Power over Ethernet
The UPOE-1600G is a 16-Port 10/100/1000BASE-T PoE Injector Hub that boasts a total PoE budget of 600 watts. The UPOE-1600G is a high-density, rack-mountable managed Ultra PoE injector hub with advanced PoE management functions that can be remotely managed via a web user interface. Each PoE port can deliver up to 60-watts of power over Cat.5/5e/6 Ethernet UTP cables. The unit allows data and power to transmit simultaneously to a remote 60W and 802.3at/af powered device (PD). The UPOE-1600G allows for a centralized power supply and simplifies the installation and power management of a remote network powered device. The Ultra PoE Managed Injector Hub series is a cost-effective and simple Ultra PoE solution that can be used to upgrade an existing network infrastructure to an Ultra Power over Ethernet network system without having to replace existing Ethernet Switches.
Simple-to-Install PoE Network Deployment
The UPOE-1600G is installed between a regular Ethernet Switch and the PDs. There are a total of 32 RJ45 STP ports on the front panel of the UPOE-1600G. The bottom 16 ports operate as “Data input” interfaces while the top 16 ports operate as the “PoE (Data and Power) output” interface. With PoE, the UPOE-1600G can reduce power cable deployment and eliminate the need for dedicated electrical outlets on the wall, ceiling or any unreachable place.
802.3bt Ready — 60 Watts of Power over 4-Pair UTP System
The UPOE-1600G Ultra PoE solution adopts the IEEE 802.3at/af PoE standard. Instead of delivering power over 2-pair twisted UTP be it end-span (Pin 1, 2, 3 and 6) or mid-span (Pin 4, 5, 7 and 8), the unit can supply up to 60 watts of power by using all four pairs of standard Cat.5e/6 Ethernet cabling. Utilizing the 4 twisted pairs for power allows the UPOE-1600G to deliver up to 60 watts per port to connected powered devices. The unit can deliver double the amount of power than a conventional 802.3at PoE device.

The UPOE-1600G provides a simple Web management interface for the efficient management of the system and PoE functions. The unit can automatically detect the power status of each port and display messages on its Web management interface. This feature also provide users with a cost-effective way to manage the device via the Internet whether system administrators find themselves at work or at home.

Intelligent Powered Device Alive Check
The UPOE-1600G provides automated PD monitoring and real-time PoE status updates. The UPOE-1600G can be configured to monitor connected PDs status in real time via ping requests using the uplinked Ethernet switch. When the PD stops responding, the UPOE-1600G will reactivate the PoE port power and reactive the PD as well. The unit will also facilitate the management of a network.
PoE Schedule for Energy-Saving
The UPOE-1600G features effective, energy-saving PoE functions. The built-in PoE schedule function helps network administers enable or disable PoE power feeding for each PoE port during specified time intervals. The unit also helps save resources by by powering off PDs that should not be in use during non-business hours.
Advanced PoE Power Output Mode Management
The UPOE-1600G provides three different PoE power output mode options:.
- 60W UPOE PoE Power Output Mode (Pin 1, 2, 3, 6 + Pin 4, 5, 7, 8)
- 30W End-span PoE Power Output Mode (Pin 1, 2, 3, 6)
- 30W Mid-span PoE Power Output Mode (Pin 4, 5, 7, 8)
Advanced Power Management
The UPOE-1600G comes equip with powerful PoE management features such as over temperature protection, usage threshold alert and auto power allocation to prevent power budget overloading. The PoE power budget can be allocated by prioritization or classification and send alert event logs when power usage reaches the defined threshold.
LED Indicators for Real-time PoE Usage
The UPOE-1600G helps users monitor the current status of PoE power usage with its advanced LED indication. Labeled as PoE Power Usage, the front panel of the UPOE-1600G has four green LEDs indicating 150W, 300W, 450W and 600W of PoE power usage.
PoE Usage Monitoring
Via the power usage chart in the web management interface, the UPOE-1600G enables administrators to monitor the status of the power usage of the connected PDs in real time.
High Power Budget for 802.3at PoE Extension
With IEEE’s 802.3af/802.3at PoE output capacity, the UPOE-1600G can achieve extended Ethernet rates by using PLANET’s PoE Extender that can be daisy-chained together to double, triple or quadruple the distance of a PoE network.
Smart Fan Design for Silent Operation
The UPOE-1600G features a low-noise design and an effective ventilation system. The unit supports smart fan technology that automatically controls the speed of its built-in fan to reduce noise and maintain the temperature of the Ultra PoE Managed Injector Hub to achieve optimal power output.
